The Anderson Police Department utilizes both multi-purpose and single-purpose dogs for law enforcement. The department has narcotic detection-trained dogs, explosive detection-trained dogs, and patrol-trained dogs.
All handlers and dogs are thoroughly vetted, trained, and certified before working the streets. Our canine program offers demonstrations and public events in addition to their patrol duties.
Always remember that police canines are working dogs, and you should always ask the officer handler before attempting to approach or pet one!
